Blue Heron Ministries

An opportunity to be stewards of our Lord's creation within the context of community

Volunteer

September Seed Collection

September 26th at 12pm

As autumn draws near, we look forward to entering the prairie for our annual seed harvest. Our first gathering will be with our friends from the Indiana Native Plant Society.

We’ll travel to some properties that Blue Heron Ministries helps manage, within Steuben and LaGrange counties, to collect native prairie plant seeds. Join us for the opportunity to fellowship, visit unique natural communities, learn about native plants, and enjoy the autumn harvest. The whole family is welcome!

We’ll meet at the Presbyterian Chapel of the Lakes (2955 W. Orland Rd Angola, In 46703) at noon and caravan to the site(s).

October Seed Collections

October 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st

This year has brought about many changes, but one thing that hasn’t changed is that we will still be hosting one of our favorite gatherings.

As usual, we’ll travel to properties that Blue Heron Ministries manages, within Steuben and LaGrange counties, to collect native prairie plant seeds. Come enjoy the goodness of Creation, and be reminded of God’s certainty.

We’ll meet at the Presbyterian Chapel of the Lakes (2955 W. Orland Rd Angola, IN 46703) at noon and carpool to the site(s).

We have all the tools and buckets, just bring your lunch.

Ongoing Blue Heron Ministries Volunteer Opportunities

Trail walkers are needed to periodically check the conditions of the trails at La Tierra and/or Badger Barrens.

• A painter is needed to inspect older property signs to possibly repaint lettering and apply a surface sealant.

Sign makers are needed to make wooden property name signs for the newer preserves.
